BEAUTY: Clothing--Misc. London Collections: Men

A wrap-up of miscellaneous elements from London Collections: Men... there were some fun moments and asides.

In addition to random geometric shapes, James Long showed a fascinating innovation of very dense quilting on jackets and trousers. Instead of the usual large-patterned, quilted down/puffy jacket for winter, the pieces in this '14-'15 Fall Winter collection feature quilting in various spacings, creating a highly textured, pebbled effect...

I liked Richard James' nod to Rockabilly with shiny suits and colonel ties... and the fun touch of a bright yellow collar...

The father-son duo of Casely-Hayford showed a collection that relied on fabric printed with wooden planks. But what really caught my eye was the marvelous, unique necklaces created out of jute and old buttons by legendary stylist and jeweler Judy Blame.

The quirky patterns and combination of muddy and bright colors in Jonathan Saunders' '14-'15 Fall Winter collection seem modern but in a completely retro way. I get a late 60s/ ITV vibe... some of these pieces would not look out of place on Patrick McGoohan's "The Prisoner," or perhaps "The Avengers."

And finally, I cannot resist a metallic shoe. The gleaming lace-ups and loafers in Richard Nicoll's collection come in red, blue, orange, aged bronze, and hematite (last photo)! Yes, hematite! I'll have one of each please...
